President Obama Banned His Daughters to Use Facebook [Total Respect]

As we all know that President Obama doesn’t like kids to use Facebook and other social media sites even though he made full use of Facebook to get vote from young generation in the presidential election and had raised hell of money for his election campaign with the help of his 24million followers on his Facebook page. And now its been reported that President Obama has banned his daughters from using Facebook.

Uk newspaper Mail Online reported on Saturday that President Obama, also called “First Social Media President”, said: “It does not make much sense to put the most private details of his family life on public view and he doesn’t want strangers knowing their family business”.

US President Obama have 2 daughters, Malia 13 and Sasha 10. Malia is now old enough to join Facebook but President Obama said that he will not allow his daughters to join Facebook until they are both 4-years older.

The Statement comes after many private photos on his official Facebook page revealed. In an interview Mr. President said: “Why would we want to have a whole bunch of people who we don’t know knowing our business? That doesn’t make much sense. We’ll see how they [his daughters] feel in four years”.

However, earlier this week White House released latest official family portrait with the caption “The new Obama Family Portrait”. Portrait shows that President Obama is sitting with first lady Michelle Obama and both daughters. And the portrait got 71,000 likes and 11,000 comments on Facebook.

Without thinking of president obama’s other views and political decision we should totally support him on this matter that Facebook is not for kids and we totally respect his private life. Total respect the decision.

Facebook Users Exposed Facebook Account Security Flaw by Posting Mark Zuckerberg Personal Pictures

Group of Facebook Users posted Facebook Mark Zuckerberg personal pictures on image hosting website to expose facebook security flaws. Members of a Body Building forum revealed the flaw in a instructional tutorial of step-by-step guide of how to view private photos on facebook.

According to the instruction, when facebook users report a profile picture of some facebook user as inappropriate, Facebook ask the reporting user to view more personal pictures of same user. Group of facebook users used this security flaw and break into Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg account and posted 14 personal pictures of Marck Zuckerberg on internet with the title “It’s time to fix those security flaws Facebook”. Images included Mark Zuckerberg picture with girlfriend preparing food in kitchen, holding a chicken and a meeting with US President Barak Obama.

Important point is that just a week ago Federal Trade Commission warned facebook for privacy settings which were updated two years ago and demanded facebook to do regular audits over the next 20 years. Federal Trade Commission also accused facebook for deceptive practices.

Though facebook claimed that they have fixed the flaw but it clearly shows that facebook has never been sersious about privacy settings and have never taken appropriate actions since facebook changed privacy setting two years ago.

In a statement Facebook says: “Earlier today, we discovered a bug in one of our reporting flows that allows people to report multiple instances of inappropriate content simultaneously. The bug allowed anyone to view a limited number of another user’s most recently uploaded photos irrespective of the privacy settings for these photos. This was the result of one of our recent code pushes and was live for a limited period of time. Upon discovering the bug, we immediately disabled the system, and will only return functionality once we can confirm the bug has been fixed”.

Facebook with other similar kind of sites like myspace, twitter called themselves Social Networking Sites and now they are so big they can be consider as Social Media sites as well. However, the big question is “Is Facebook Really Bringing Friends Together?”

So many people who are addicted to facebook would answer in “yes” but many of us know that it is not true at all. In fact, In reality it is totally different. You are wasting too much time on some very un-important activities on facebook like sharing photos, poking each other and updating your status. In reality you can have more fun compare to your useless time on facebook like going out with friends and sharing your pictures in personal, Have fun time with your friends and for those who stays away, believe me, they will love you more when you call them via phone or skype(video call) instead of writing on their wall.

So, My answer would be, NO, Facebook is really taking away your friends from you instead of bringing them to you. So, Start living an actually fun loving life instead of wasting time on facebook.

15-million US Facebook Users Have Deleted Their Accounts

Despite Facebook gets more than 600 million hits on monthly basis, Its been reported that Facebook is experiencing huge number of users going away from facebook and deleting their accounts. Especially users from US and Canada are removing themselves from Facebook every month.

According to Inside Facebook, 687 million users visited Facebook in June 2011, however growth rate has been a lot less if you compare it to the last 2 months. The reason are given is that Facebook users are leaving the social networking site due to privacy concerns. According to the report 15 million users from US removed their account and approximately 5.5 million Canadians have removed themselves from Facebook

Myron Blue of Wired Magazine said: “The party is over for Facebook. People are tired of all the add-ons and they are growing more and more concerned about their privacy. Most importantly, they are bored and have decided to move on”.

Most Worried news for facebook is that students, who are original audiances of Facebook, no longer consider Facebook as a cool tool to communicate with friends.

17-year-old Jimmy Batlon from New Orleans said: “Facebook is for old people and losers. We want something new, something for our generation”.

However, Despite accepting that millions are removing their facebook accounts, Facebook doesn’t agree with dropping of growth rate. Facebook spokesperson said: “Yes, many in the U.K., Canada and the United States are getting off Facebook, but we are growing in places like Mexico and Uganda”.

55-Year old Unemployed Woman falls for a $500,000 Facebook Scam

A 55-year old woman who is unemployed because of her back injury problem falls for a $500,000 scam. It all started with a Facebook Wall message “You have Won”.

A woman, who doesn’t want to reveal her name, clicked on the message and she was told to send an email to the Facebook claims department with given code numbers. After some days she received an email with the message that she needs to transfer $544 to Trans Global Express Courier Service so she can recieve her $500,000 cheque. She did it via Western Union so she can get her enormous cheque couriered quick smart.

Later that night she received a call from a man who told her that she needs to transfer further $5000 to the British Immigration Tax Offices to clear her cheque.

She spoke to her daughter who told her its most probably a scam. Woman still went to her bank to get an application for bank loan as she doesn’t have enough money but didn’t filled it and send an email back to the scammer that she didn’t have enough money. She then went to Police station.

Woman said: “But I never filled it in. I emailed the people back and told them I didn’t have enough money.”

In her statement she said: “I was thinking, Oh God, someone is looking after me. I didn’t even enter any competition. I was overwhelmed. It’s all just so embarrassing. I just can’t believe I fell for it now. I’m not a gullible person.”

About the money, $544 she transfered via WU, Woman said: “I was told it was needed because it was such a large amount of money.”

Later after investigating Police issued a warning via press statement for others to not to fall for the scam.

How Facebook makes you Dumb and Stupid

2 years ago in a survey taken by Ohio State University proved that students who don’t use Facebook much had GPAs between 3.5 to 4.0 and on other hand Facebook addicted students got GPAs ranged between 3.0 to 3.5 and some are even lower.

And in my opinion Facebook addicted students are not among popular students who take part in sports and in other College/University events. Only they care about is how to party and get drunk in wild ways.

The first benefit is that you won’t have to worry about privacy concerns. Many people aren’t aware of some of the strange terms of service changes that Facebook has made in the last year or so. 2 – Facebook is a Waste of Time
Many get sucked into Facebook and it ends up being a waste of time. Without having an account, you don’t have to worry about this becoming a problem at all and literally can save hell of time to spend with your family and friends.

Without Facebook you can have control over the types of conversations that you want to have with people. Some people just don’t like talking through a computer. You might not be able to type well or might enjoy the phone or talking in person much better.

With growing usage of internet and social networking sites especially Facebook world is getting under more and more security threats. These threats always find new ways to get in your personal life and can even make your life hell. So it is always to be aware of these threats and you should try your best to avoid them.

So here we are mentioning five most common security threats on facebook.

1. Clickjacking
This is the most common attacks hitting Facebook users. These attacks use maliciously created pages where the true function of a button is concealed beneath an opaque layer showing something entirely different. Often sharing or “liking” the content in question sends the attack out to contacts through news feeds and status updates, propagating the scam.

2. Fake surveys
This scam is related to clickjacking since it attempts to make you click on something dangerous via a misleading message. Typically, the scam starts with a provocative (sexual or otherwise) message. like: “OMG! Look What this Kid did to his School after being Expelled!”

3. Rogue applications
More perniciously, the fake survey can lead to rogue applications. Sometimes the applications will look for your address book and send the fake surveys to everyone in it, hoping to make money. Other rogue applications can hijack data by installing key loggers or other malware. Other fake applications can turn your computer into a zombie.

4. Amazon vulnerability
A security flaw apparently allows the company’s servers to accept passwords that are nearly but not entirely correct. Fortunately, the flaw only appears to affect older passwords. The flaw lets Amazon accept as valid some passwords that have extra characters added on after the 8th character, and also makes the password case-insensitive. That flaw erases the advantage of a longer password, making passwords much easier to crack via software. This was first noticed by users over at reddit and has been picked up and verified by a number of reputable groups, including Wired.

5. Spearphishing
This is more likely to occur via regular e-mail; but you may also be hit by a spear through a Facebook or Twitter message. Spearphishing (or spear phishing) works like this. You’ll get an e-mail or message that seems quite personal, it may appear to be from a person or company with whom you normally communicate. But it will lead you to a poisoned site. Yes, this sounds like the “phishing” scams you’ve been warned about. In those you might get a message from your e-mail provider saying your inbox is full or you have to verify your identity and so on. Spear phishing takes that a step further by adding personalized information to lull your suspicions. Phishing messages usually appear to come from a large and well-known company or Web site with a broad membership base, such as eBay or PayPal. In the case of spear phishing, however, the apparent source of the e-mail is likely to be an individual within the recipient’s own company and generally someone in a position of authority.

6 Ways to Keep Your Kids Safe on Facebook

With growing popularity of Facebook. Its never been important before for parents and elders to keep safe their kids on Facebook. There are plenty of ways where your kids can be part of something that isn’t good and even they can effect them in future when they start their practical life.

So here are i am going to tell you guys some ways you can keep your kids safe on facebook. I know facebook shouldn’t be allowed to kids but in reality you can not force kids to stop using facebook.

1- BE IN CHARGE:
Easiest way to do that is to keep visiting web browser history and know what pages they have visited. You can keep administrator rights and create some restrictions.
If you don’t know how to do all that, get someone to show you. You are not spying, you are protecting them and learning with them.

2- BE TIME CONSCIOUS:
As you all know Facebook and other social networking sites are addictive and time consuming. Have a deal with your kids about a schedule where they can use these sites. When they use the computer for school work, make sure that the Facebook page is closed, not just minimized.

3- BE THEIR FRIEND:
Get a Facebook ID and become their friend. And the friend of their friends. Post things that they can relate to and that their friends will relate to. Show that you are having fun too and don’t interfere with the exchanges unless they are inappropriate. Oh and if there is no action on your kid’s page for a day or two, you are looking at a fake profile and they are having fun on another page.

4- BE REALISTIC:
Don’t scare your kids about facebook and other sites because you simply cannot, just make them aware of the risks. Point out the inappropriate comments, show them the image that their friends are putting forward and let them think about it themselves. Show them that what they post is seen by many people: what do they want these people to know about them? Is the person that people see on the screen really who they are?

5- BE PROACTIVE:
Find new sites for your kids before they do. Use them yourself and be the one to invite them. Set the example by posting the kind of information, tone, style you want your kids to reproduce. Show them that you are NOT against.

6- BE POSITIVE:
Social Media is one of the most powerful business tools nowadays. Your kids are expert at it and they don’t even know it. Start a project with them, create a page together about something you are passionate about, build your group of followers for a cause you believe in. Show them the power of social media in a constructive way.
