Facebook Sucks Students Time and Brain [Proved]

A new research taken by US Psychologist Paul Kirschnera who studied 216 college students revealed that Facebook sucks students time and brain. Research discovered users had lower grade than those who don’t spend time with Social Network site.

Research found that Student who use Facebook alot avereged GPAs of 3.06, while those not use facebook got GPAs of 3.82.

Kirschnera says students think they can multi-task by listening to music, checking Facebook and even texting while studying, but that’s not the case.

He contends that “performing multiple tasks takes more time, which leads to more mistakes, and that schools should “resist the fashionable views of educational gurus that children can multitask, and that we should adapt our education systems accordingly to keep up with the times.”

Here are top 10 reason why everyone should destroy/delete their Account on Facebook.

Facebook’s Terms Of Service are completely one-sided.
Facebook’s Terms Of Service state that not only do they own your data (section 2.1), but if you don’t keep it up to date and accurate (section 4.6), they can terminate your account (section 14).

Facebook’s CEO has a documented history of unethical behavior.
From the very beginning of Facebook’s existence, there are questions about Zuckerberg’s ethics. According to BusinessInsider.com, he used Facebook user data to guess email passwords and read personal email in order to discredit his rivals. However, These allegations are unproven and somewhat dated. They’re particularly compelling given that Facebook chose to fork over $65M to settle a related lawsuit alleging that Zuckerberg had actually stolen the idea for Facebook.

Facebook has flat out declared war on privacy.
Founder and CEO of Facebook, in defense of Facebook’s privacy changes last January: “People have really gotten comfortable not only sharing more information and different kinds, but more openly and with more people. That social norm is just something that has evolved over time.” More recently, in introducing the Open Graph API: “… the default is now social.” Essentially, this means Facebook not only wants to know everything about you, and own that data, but to make it available to everybody.

Facebook is pulling a classic bait-and-switch.
At the same time that they’re telling developers how to access your data with new APIs, they are relatively quiet about explaining the implications of that to members. Bait-and-switch means that Facebook gets you to share information that you might not otherwise share, and then they make it publicly available. Since they are in the business of monetizing information about you for advertising purposes, this amounts to tricking their users into giving advertisers information about themselves.

Facebook is a bully.
When Pete Warden demonstrated just how this bait-and-switch works (by crawling all the data that Facebook’s privacy settings changes had inadvertently made public) they sued him. So why sue an independent software developer and fledgling entrepreneur for making data publicly available when you’re actually already planning to do that yourself? Their real agenda is pretty clear: they don’t want their membership to know how much data is really available.

Even your private data is shared with applications.
At this point, all your data is shared with applications that you install. Which means now you’re not only trusting Facebook, but the application developers, too, many of whom are too small to worry much about keeping your data secure.

Facebook is not technically competent enough to be trusted.
Even if we weren’t talking about ethical issues here, I can’t trust Facebook’s technical competence to make sure my data isn’t hijacked. For example, their recent introduction of their “Like” button makes it rather easy for spammers to gain access to my feed and spam my social network.

Facebook makes it incredibly difficult to truly delete your account.
It’s pretty tricky to really delete your account. They make no promises about deleting your data and every application you’ve used may keep it as well. On top of that, account deletion is incredibly (and intentionally) confusing. When you go to your account settings, you’re given an option to deactivate your account, which turns out not to be the same thing as deleting it. Deactivating means you can still be tagged in photos and be spammed by Facebook. Finally, the moment you log back in, you’re back like nothing ever happened! In fact, it’s really not much different from not logging in for awhile. To actually delete your account, you have to find a link buried in the on-line help. Basically, Facebook is trying to trick their users into allowing them to keep their data even after they’ve “deleted” their account.

Facebook doesn’t support the Open Web.
The so-called Open Graph API is named so as to disguise its fundamentally closed nature. It’s bad enough that the idea here is that we all pitch in and make it easier than ever to help Facebook collect more data about you. It’s bad enough that most consumers will have no idea that this data is basically public. It’s bad enough that they claim to own this data and are aiming to be the one source for accessing it. But then they are disingenuous enough to call it “open,” when, in fact, it is completely proprietary to Facebook. You can’t use this feature unless you’re on Facebook.

The Facebook itself sucks.
Between the farms and the mafia wars and the “top news” and the myriad privacy settings and the annoying ads and the thousands upon thousands of crappy applications, Facebook is almost completely useless. Yes, I could probably customize it better, but the navigation is ridiculous, so I don’t bother. And, yet, somehow, I can’t even change colors or apply themes or do anything to make my page look personalized. Let’s not even get into how slowly your feed page loads. Basically, at this point, Facebook is more annoying than anything else.

20% of Divorce Applications in UK cited Facebook

According to British divorce counseling firm Divorce-Online, 20% of divorce applications filed last year cited the Facebook that makes the ratio of one-fifth of the divorce petitions.

Australian Family Relationships Clearing House manager Elly Robinson said online behavior was causing friction in households.

Elly Robinson said: “People will come in (for counselling) where one partner may deny their online behavior has been any sort of problem, but the issue is … if it’s upsetting one of those people in the relationship, it’s a problem.”

She added: “Relationships develop more quickly online because inhibitions are lowered, it’s easy to exchange information, people are online 24/7, there’s an (endless) amount of people you can link up with who are there for the same reason, real life pressures fade away … it’s a bit of a fantasy world”.

Relationships Australia vice-president Anne Hollonds said while the internet had made it easier to reconnect with lost loves, people ultimately had to take responsibility for their actions.

She said: “The internet doesn’t make people have affairs. It’s become the pathway of choice for many people but I don’t think that means the internet is breaking up families. Everyone has some degree of fantasy about a love that might have been from the past and the technology now helps you find these people”.

Managing an office and workforce is always a challenge especially now a days when Facebook and other social networking sites has raised the chances of sticky new situations in offices.

Imagine that when you walked into office, you encountered with not only your colleagues and co-workers but also your spouse, your college drinking buddies, your Senior Prom date, and, off in a corner, your adolescent son and may be possible your ex-managers, busy in telling your boss that how many hours daily you spend playing GTA.

Even if you are careful in posting work-related news in your facebook status and comments on others’ walls. One buddy writing “Yo, how did the layoffs go down?” on your wall is enough to cause havoc in your office particularly if layoff day hasn’t yet happened.

1 – Too Many Friends
Its been reported that young people are more open to accepting friends request compare to older colleagues who are not keen in revealing their secrets.

Michael Argast, director of Global Sales Engineering at security vendor Sophos Plc said, “Younger people are using Facebook on a quasi-professional basis to build stronger relationships with people. That means they’re sharing a lot of information with a lot of people on a regular basis.”

Imagine you’ve just had an innocent lunch with a former co-worker who works in competitor company and discussed joining her fantasy baseball league. You come back to find a post on your wall that reads, “Great talking to you, and I’ll be sure to let you know if there are any openings.” What kind of rumors will that start among your staff and colleagues?

2 – Information Travel Too Far
The currency of Facebook is the information that friends choose to share with one another — status updates, wall posts, external Web links, photos, videos, survey results, application feeds, and comments on all of the above. The unending flow of data from friends and supposed friends can easily get out of hand.

Say a Facebook user posts a funny picture of a cat. If one of her friends your employee, as it turns out comments “LOL,” there’s no harm done. But what if your employee instead writes, “thanks. i really needed a laugh this morning everyone here is freaking cuz our servers are down.” Suddenly lots of people she may not know, and you certainly don’t, are now aware of your company’s technical difficulties, all in lightning-quick Internet time.

3 – Facebook can blur the line between Boss and Employees
Facebook can be a swamp for boss and employee alike as everything from romantic entanglements and political views to over-sharing about recreational substance use makes its way from the digital world to the physical office.

If your top programmer announces on Facebook that she’s pregnant, but neglects to tell you in real life, is this information you now “know” for planning purposes or not? If a long-time contract programmer shares in his status update that he just got a contract to write a book, are you out of line in asking if he still has time for your projects?

4 – Facebook photos and apps can be very dangerous
Even if you and your employees are careful not to share sensitive information in wall posts and status updates, it’s still easy to inadvertently spill the beans. The Internet is chock-a-block with applications that bring data into Facebook from outside sources again, often without the user’s realization.

As just one example, There’s a way to capture Delicious bookmarks to Facebook so that everything you bookmark gets posted to your feed. If your research team is using Delicious to bookmark source pages and haven’t checked their privacy settings, their work may be getting propagated on Facebook, giving friends and potentially competitors alike a pretty good idea of what your company’s next big idea is going to be.

Many people will argue that instead of banning Facebook in office you should train your staff. My question is can you do that? is it possible?

1. In a bar or club you are looking at someone and feel like you know him but cannot remember how… And then you realize that never saw him in real life but spent pretty much time learning his profile at facebook
2. After you meet someone new your conversation turns into kinda “Do you have a facebook account etc.”

3. You never give your friends a single call. Instead of that you write a post on the super wall ?
4. You make a conclusion on how interesting someone is by the number of his photos at facebook
5. When you are chilling with your friends you get some funny photo and your first reaction is “I’ll put it on facebook!”
6. Talking to your friends you’d definitely ask them whether they have seen one or another post on your wall!
7. You check your facebook page as only you get up in the morning, before you go to bed every night and some 10 more times every day
8. You know for sure how many photos each of your friends has and are happy every time you see that the number has changed
9. You log in to facebook to check your mail and wake up after 2 hours with no idea what did you do all that time
10. You’re smiling while reading this and know that you’ll send it to your friends.
