Birmingham City University offers MA degree in Facebook [WTF?]

Birmingham City University in UK is offering one-year Master’s degree in Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, but it will cost students more than £4,400 (approx. $6200).

Students will learn how to set up blogs and podcasts online and also how to use the sites in communications and make the most of the social media websites for marketing.

New master degree program has been advertised through a makeshift video on the university’s website.

Jon Hickman, Its convenor said, “It’s not for freaks or IT geeks. The tools learned on this course will be accessible to many people. It will definitely appeal to students looking to go into professions including journalism and PR.”

However, Jamie Waterman, one 20-year-old Birmingham-based student said, “It’s of no interest to me whatsoever. Virtually all of the content of this course is so basic it can be self-taught. In fact most people know all this stuff already. I think it’s a complete waste of university resources”.

Bart Czernicki from USA commented to story on news.com.au, “If you can’t learn this by yourself, you should not be employed ANYWHERE around a computer.”
